Our Growth, Over Time
At Vital Mind Psychology, things haven’t grown in a straight line. It has been more like seasons. Different phases, each with their own energy, challenges, and lessons about the work itself.
Spring — Beginnings
Even with years of experience in mental health, starting something new always comes with uncertainty.
Vital Mind Psychology started small. The intention was pretty simple at the time: create a space where people could do meaningful therapeutic work, feel genuinely supported, and not feel rushed through the process. Nature was part of that from the beginning too, not as a concept, but as something we knew helped people soften and open up.
Early on, it really was like planting something and not knowing exactly how it would grow, just paying attention and taking care of what was in front of us.
Summer — Growth and Expansion
As time went on, things started to pick up.
New psychologists joined the team, each with their own way of working and thinking about therapy. That changed the feel of things—in a good way. It made the work richer, but also more complex.
We also started offering more in the community, like guided nature walks and a mother’s support group. It was a busy period. A lot of learning on the go, figuring out what we wanted to keep doing and what didn’t quite fit.
There was growth, but also a constant need to pause and ask, “Is this still aligned with the kind of practice we want to be?”
Autumn — Refinement
In nature, autumn is when things start to simplify.
Trees don’t keep everything—they pull energy inward and let go of what isn’t needed. Not because it’s bad, but because it can’t all be carried forward.
We went through a similar process.
Some things we tried early on worked well and stayed. Others didn’t make sense long-term. So we started paying closer attention to what was actually helping people move forward, not just what sounded good in theory.
This was a period of refining how we work together as a team too—training, adjusting, and becoming more deliberate about the kind of care we want to provide.
Winter — Grounded and Intentional
Winter is quieter, but it’s steady.
It’s not about things necessarily stopping—it’s about settling into place. What’s been built has a chance to hold without constant change.
For us, this looks like focusing more on consistency and depth. Doing the work well, not rushing it. Supporting each other as clinicians so we can show up better for the people we work with.
There’s still growth, just not the loud kind. More subtle. More internal. The kind you only really notice over time.
Looking Ahead
The seasons keep cycling, and we’re still in it with them.
Still learning. Still adjusting. Still trying to keep the work grounded in what actually helps people.
Thanks for being part of that process.
Peace and love,
